Apple Music for Artists is where you see who listens to your songs on Apple Music: plays, listeners, cities, Shazam counts and playlist adds. Many Indian artists release a song, then have no idea how to see these numbers. This guide explains what you need and how the process works.
What is Apple Music for Artists?
It is Apple's free dashboard for artists. It shows streaming and discovery data for your music on Apple Music, and lets you manage how your profile appears. Labels and managers can be given access too.
What you need before you request access
- At least one release that is live on Apple Music under your artist name.
- An Apple ID to sign in with.
- The correct artist profile, so your releases are grouped under one artist page.
How to get access, step by step
- Release your music through a distributor. Upload your track, artwork and metadata, and select Apple Music as a store. On SapneDigital this takes four steps, and the same upload also goes to 160+ other stores.
- Wait until the release is live. Delivery times vary by store, so allow a few days before you check.
- Find your artist page on Apple Music and open the Apple Music for Artists app or website.
- Request access with your Apple ID and choose your artist profile.
- Wait for approval. Apple reviews each request, and timing varies.
What you can do once you have access
- See plays, listeners and where your audience is located.
- Track Shazam activity and playlist additions.
- Update your profile image and manage your artist presence.
Common problems
Wrong or duplicate artist page. Keep your artist name identical on every release. Spelling variations can create separate profiles. See our guide on music metadata mistakes for what to check before you submit.
No release found. If your song is not live yet, you cannot request access. Check the release status in your distributor dashboard.
If you are comparing distributors first, read our comparison of music distribution companies in India. Ready to release? Create your SapneDigital account and put your song on Apple Music, Spotify and JioSaavn together.
Frequently asked questions
Is Apple Music for Artists free?
Yes. Apple Music for Artists is a free tool from Apple for artists, labels and managers. You do not pay Apple to see your analytics.
Can I get Apple Music for Artists before my song is live?
No. Access is tied to your artist profile in the Apple Music catalog, so at least one release must already be live on Apple Music.
How do I get my songs on Apple Music from India?
Independent artists reach Apple Music through a distributor. With SapneDigital you upload your track once and it is delivered to Apple Music along with Spotify, JioSaavn, YouTube Music and 160+ stores.
Why is my music on the wrong Apple Music artist profile?
This usually happens when an artist name is shared or spelled differently across releases. Use the exact same artist name on every release and check the artist profile link before you submit.
